Synopsis
A Mother and Daughter arrive at a playground so that the Daughter can play on the swings in the local playground. When she starts swinging she is interrupted by a strange voice coming from the bush near her. The voice attempts to seduce her into coming with him, testing the Daughter’s curiosity.

Filmmaker's Note
Swing was a concept created by my Dad (Michael Daly) as we were making our way back home and in some way or another, got into a conversation about what true horror is? Is it the quick jump scare? Is it the gore fest? My Dad didn't think so. Or is it the suspense, tension and atmosphere? We believed that it was this last one. Then we talked about what could be eerie and creepy and this is where this concept was formed. When my Dad told me it, the idea gave me chills. It might have been just from the disturbing voice he was trying to pull, but the story definitely had something to do with it. Since then, I have expanded on that idea and I am in the works to create a feature length film based off of this story. However, I wanted to keep the awe of the story intact, so after a while of my Dad nagging me, I finally made the short film you are about to see, Swing. Along with Producer Joe Carney, D.O.P. Derry Boorman, Editor Colt Candeias, our Music composer Nneka Cummins and our great cast, Karen, Paul and Amaya. We set out to create a short film based on my Dad's short story. Swing looks to bring chills and explore the kind of horror that doesn't involve jump scares or blood and gore, but relies solely on the time, the place, the situation, the characters and allows those elements to convey suspense, tension and leave you feeling disturbed and uneasy at what has transpired before your very eyes.

About the filmmaker

Shaun Daly has over 5 years experience in the art of film-making. He graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film and TV production with Honours. From the age of 16 he has made numerous short films, documentaries, music videos, promotional videos and has written a number of screenplays that have yet to be produced. Experienced in directing, screenwriting, producing, editing to name a few, Shaun thrives and enjoys the process of filmmaking whatever his role maybe. He is trying to get his own production company (DALY BASIS) off the ground, but at the moment craves experience to help it become successful. Young, passionate and determined, Shaun can't imagine doing anything else but making films of any kind for the rest of his life.
