Marcelle Abela

Marcelle Abela is a Maltese-American director and producer. She is the sole filmmaker in the history of Jerry Rudes's Cinemonde series in New York City to have two films chosen for screening. Her documentaries have won recognition at several film festivals and her science shorts have been accepted into the official archives of the European Space Agency. Marcelle has received nine best picture awards in Beijing, Los Angeles, Rome, Pune, Quebec, and Saint Petersburg; two awards for best editing, one prix d'hommage for the "magnificent film" Creation, and twenty-four nominations including best female director and best original concept. Her films have been screened in the US, Canada, Europe, China, India, Japan, the Philippines, and the Russian Federation. They have also been broadcast in North America. A classical musician and the author of ten books, Marcelle is presently in production on her debut feature film "Mikha'El."
