Lungile Ndlovu

Headshot of Lungile Ndlovu, filmmaker on The Short Film Show

About

Lungile Ndlovu is a South African writer, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary artist from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Her love for storytelling began in her grandmother’s farmlands, where she and her cousins shared folklore in a small hut, sparking an imagination she has carried into her work ever since. She is committed to telling authentic South African stories that explore morality, faith, socio-economic tension, and the quiet contradictions of survival. Lungile is drawn to ethical grey areas and characters navigating the space between intention and consequence. Her storytelling begins with concept and unfolds through emotional excavation and social inquiry. Her work resists easy answers, inviting audiences into discomfort, reflection, and empathy. Lungile’s voice is contemplative, socially conscious, and spiritually charged, contributing to a new wave of African storytelling that challenges both character and viewer alike.
