How do I get my short film on the TV?
Simply head over to the submit tab on this website and submit your film Via Film-Freeway. Not every film that gets submitted will get selected for the show. We review every film that gets submitted for its suitability for making it into the show.
What channel will the show be on?
The series will be broadcast on Showcase TV, Starting from the 15th January 2018. The channel is available in the United Kingdom on Sky channel 161 and Freesat 161
What length does my short film have to be?
We can accept films of all lengths but we can only show short films up to 22 Minutes in length. This is due to breaks for commercial advertising. There are plans for more programming where longer films can be accepted.
Do I have the right to withdraw my Short Film?
Yes, but only after 14 days. After your film has been selected each show gets planned with your film in it. Removing a film means a whole episode would have to be re-planed and re-shot provided it hasn’t been sent to transmission or gone out on air. Only upload your film if you are 100% happy that it’s finished.
Where is The Short Film Show distributed
The Short Film Show is currently shown in the UK on Sky Channel 212 Freesat 161 to up to 14 million homes, it is also streamed on Showcase TV web player at the time of broadcast. The Short Film Show is also available on Amazon Prime in the UK, USA and Austraila. We are working with more broadcasters to bring the short film show to other countries worldwide.
Can I make changes to my film once I have submitted it?
No. Only submit your film if you are 100% happy that it is complete and you have the authority to submit it. You have a 14 day period in which to cancel, after this point your film will automatically be entered.
What is the Short Film Channel
The Short Film Channel is run by The Short Film Show Limited, we package content submitted to the short film show for the Channel which showcases short films within a playlist. Its an easy and cost effective way for filmmakers to distribute short films to millions of people across the UK.
Can my film be in any language?
Yes, but if it is not in English it needs to have English subtitles.
Can my film have subtitles?
Yes, provided they are in English
Do I get paid?
If your short film is successful and makes it in to the programme you will be notified by email by one of the production team. You remain the owner and rights holder of your content and therefor no payments will be made to use your content. The Short Film Show is an in expensive way to showcase short films on TV, to help filmmakers reach audiences across the world.
What type of file can I upload and what codec should I use?
All video files must be at least HD 720p and preferably with 5.1 audio. The best files for us are .MP4 or .MOV H.264 or ProRes 422. Important – file sizes should be UNDER 10GB.
Can I enter more than one film?
Yes. Once you have submitted your first film, head to your account page where you will find the option to add another film.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All files are stored securely which only our production team will be able to view until broadcast.
What if my film has already been submitted to a film festival?
No problem, As long as you have not entered any exclusivity deals with the festivals.
Can I submit a section of a film to meet the show’s time allocation per film?
No. The film submitted should be in its original entirety.
Can i use film freeway or Without a box to submit my content.
